Inside a newer 400W modified sine wave inverter

You can see how small the new transformers are (higher frequency is used I think) and they have the fan pulling air through the internal heat sink instead of attaching the DC side mosfets to the side of the case. Notice the fan also pulls air right over the transformer.

This is a 400W continuous model. 12V in and 120V AC out. It was on sale for $20.

The AC side mosfets are at the bottom of the picture attached to the side of the case as usual (not visible) and the IC's are TL494 type PWM controller chips as found on other inverters.
