Why solar panels and wind turbines are such good investment

Many solar panel manufacturers offer a warranty that guarantees electrical production for 10 years at 90% of rated power output and 25 years at 80%.

What that means is that they don't wear out with use like a car does.

And that 25 year mark isn't the end, they don't stop producing at that point, they just keep going.

When you pay the power company you get power for only that month. That money is now gone and you won't be getting any more power from that money. Your money is gone!

With solar, or even wind, you will continue getting electrical power for your buck for more than 25 years, and more like a lifetime.

What I don't understand is why people calculate this investment based on 25 or 30 years of use when they really never quit.

And if you invest in one more panel at the 25 year mark your output would go back up to where it was when you first got the older panels, plus some.

All you have to do is put aside money every month, or put some panels on a credit card, get a Grid Tie Inverter and start paying your credit card with the money that you are not sending the power company. Then at some point your panels are paid for and you are moving ahead and planning for the future.

(note that wind turbines are mechanical devices and may need a bearing or two replaced after 25 years, a minimal cost.)
